New Gladiators
Just released. A never before seen karate classic.
The film has been found and restored.
"New Gladiators" is a karate film
financed by the late Elvis Presley, but never
released. It features some of the 1970's greatest
karate champions, following their travels, competitions
and their thoughts during competitions in Europe
and the US.
The music score is performed by David Crosby
and Graham Nash.
The film shows some truly great action when
competition was rough and tumble. Fights were
hard, and there was a lot of contact at a time
when protective equipment was minimal.
The film includes a final match between Roy
Kurban (now a judge in Texas) and Benny "The
Jet" Urquidez, one of the classic matches
of all times in sport karate.
The film features Ed Parker, Benny "The
Jet" Urquidez, Ron Marchini, Eric Lee, Mike
Stone, Roy Kurban, Emil Farkas, as well as international
fighters, such as England's Ticky Donovan and
Geert Lemmens from Belgium.
