This week I began giving my ten year old nephew lessons in basic self defense techniques. I want to convey to him that his highest goal should be to not fight, to arrest a situation before it escalates into a physical altercation. (and not get himself banged up the way I used to when I went looking for trouble)

The trouble is, while I can express this in philosophy, I realize that I really dont know that much on how to actually do it. Virtually all my training was how do deal with a worst case scenario, and very little about avoiding a worst case scenario. Id like to help him to negotiate his way out of an avoidable situation, not just resolve an unavoidable one.
I am the MOST modest person in the world. You hear that? ME!
