The only difference is I've had the tang and tsuka on the katana lengthened to 13" and re-wrapped with full same and leather wrap. (other less scrupulous smiths would have just extended the stuka, but he went in and added inches to the tang)It'a ha heavy sword and that extra few inches on the tsuka makes it handle and cut so much easier. It's a beast and glides through 3 double sized wara like buttah. ;)Fred Lohman at http://japanese-swords.com/ in Portland Oregon is the man. He does great work restoring or altering swords.

I'll try and post an actual photo of the Katana with the upgrades. It's even got sminners, man! The cutting motion stops but hte blade keeps on spinnin'. wink
