Hello ive been studying shotokan karate for over ten years i am a shodan and on one of master yaguchi's last vists he presented to us jiin. since then i have practiced the kata many times and proceeded to use it in the 2003 nationals in orlando florida. i really like the kata a lot. but whenevr i look for a discription or text on that kata i notice there is none. i also dicoverd that it is the same for wankan. WHY is this?
Not sure about wankan, though I got some info somewhere, however, Jitte, Jiin and Jion are called Temple kata, and what I was told were not directly in any system, but were added to various system. The version I have are from Hayashi-HA Shito Ryu, but was told by a Shorin Shihan that the temple kata are not in Okinawan syllabus. Soke Terou Hayashi has the Temple Kata, all 3 available on tape from Dragon Times if you are interested.
