Hello to everyone! I am new, my first post, but have read many of the posts and found this site credible and entertaining. As I am the type of person who is never satisfied witj what I know or percieve as truth, please understand I ask a LOT of questions, and I respect all replies. I am pleased to make the aquaintance of such intelligent individuals, and have immensley enjoyed what I have read so far.
Reiki, I am particulary intersted in your ideas of Chi. Two years ago my right leg was shattered in a sparring competition, in which a well executed hip throw twisted my Tibia and Fibia "like a sponge" (my orthopedic surgeon), resulting in 17 different pieces. The attempt to repair the bones has proved some-what succesful, yet I am very limited in use of my right leg.
As I am interested most in Kempo and Kendo, this provides me serious hinderance and any energy I can incorporate into my studies is of great value to me. I have never seen a Chi demonstration, but if a shark can sense electro-magnetic fields 1/2 the size of its lateral line 2 miles away, then surely there is energy available to all; if nothing more than the mere perception of anothr's energy, all knowledge is valued.
While I am far too new in martial arts to debate the existance of Chi Balls and the like, I do believe one's energy is the prodigy of shaping through practice and wisdom. Just because I am a Christian does not mean I believe in miricale healings that are 100% effective, 100% of the time; however, there is scientifical evidence that suggests the mind is capable of healing the body - to a certain degree.
Does anyone have any suggestions for quality reading material on this subject (preferrably on the Web, as I rarely can leave the house due to the pain in my leg)? Has anyone experienced, or know of a similiar situation, an injury such as this? Are there exercises to strengthen the bones, even with the plates and pins and wire and stuff holding it together?
Anybody's imput on this would be most appreciated!! And again, it is nice to meet you all.
