An Introduction

Forum Members, I’d like to take a few moments to introduce myself and share some thoughts regarding the Meditation/Zen forum. First off I would like to say that though I am not a practicing Zenist I hold it in high regard. I ‘m also committed to the value of respectful dialogue on Philosophy, concepts, methods and their role in the martial arts training, both now and throughout history. I do not consider it my job to instruct. My personal goal is to help create a climate that fosters a respectful sharing of sincere questions and responsible replies. I also intend to seek out and invite respected people both on the forum and outside that can make a contribution to our understanding of the arts and our practice of them. In the Zendo teachers carry a long stick called a "Kyosaku". It is used to strike students that are becoming drowsy in meditation. It is not done to punish them but to invigorate them. It helps them wake up. The Zendo is not a place where one just says and does what one feels. Neither will the Meditation/Zen section of the forum. I have been given an online "Kyosaku".
Sincerely, oldman

Kel, Thank you. That's kind of you to say. You could have just as easily said , underhanded and pigheaded.

Yeah, nice to know you're going to take care of this section. I can hardly imagine how such a universally respected and appreciated man as you could do anything short of an outstanding job. Just hope the time you'll now have to spend moderating here won't bite too much on the time you spend enlightening and entertaining us martial-arts-talkers...
