Don't listen to Atkins. It's reccommended that carbs be 60% of your daily intake. Carbs give you glucose and glycogen which your muscles need. Without that, when you workout or train your body will catabolize your muscle. In fact I'm betting really that most people lose more muscle than fat on Atkins and since it weights 3x more than fat it looks like they're losing weight rapidly so it seems really awesome.

From my health class in college so far the best source of complex carbs was baked potatoes. There were other good ones, but I don't feel like busting out my notes.

tordeques, is right.

WHOLE GRAIN is the OPERATIVE word. brown rice, yams, anything brown is pretty much whole grain (varying on degrees) and is chock full of COMPLEX carbs.

atkins does work, BUT, is not designed for someone using a lot of energy.

i dont know how many on this thread HAVE boxed (i have for one year), and i used an outrageous amount of energy (if u box u have to run for conditioning, etc) and was always looking for whole grain foods and b complex vits.

I can understand that you feel intimidated by my presence here. I will take your flames in jest and not hold anything against you because I am, simply put, BETTER THAN YOU.

You are lonely, depressed, and fat, and flaming good people makes you feel better about yourself. It's okay. You're in a rough spot. If I was unable to parallel park or do math, I'd be pissed off, too.

You're not getting enough protein or carbs in your diet, and you feel like you are going through PMS every day. Your rolls of fat prevent you from seeing your feet, and this results in you wearing socks that do not match. It's okay, if I bled for six days out of my **** , I'd be a miserable bitch, too.

I will pray for you. I will pray that you find peace in the beautiful things in life, like snowflakes on a child's tongue, or a barrel full of bleeding kittens being tossed into a shark tank. I will pray that instead of lashing out against good people like me, you will use your anger and frustration to do something constructive, like making paper cranes or eating meat.
