I've been having problems with stamina lately. I'd get cramps when I walk or when I do any outdoor activities. Last year, in my school, my p.e. class was tested on stamina and speed. The test was to run around a track within 12 minutes. Last year I got 6.5 laps but earlier this year I got 5 laps which was a c-. I was really upset because my goal for the school year was to get more laps than the previous year. I was wondering if any of you could give advice on increasing, controlling, and maintaining stamina. Thanks [IMG]http://www.fightingarts.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif[/IMG]

Your track is a quarter mile track right? So last year you ran a little over 1.5 miles in 12 minutes? This time was 1.25? Are you working out at all? The cramping your getting is part of dehydration. Try drinking more water throughout the day, not just right before or after your work out. Eating a banana at some point during the day, preferably well before your workout, will give you potassium and help prevent the cramping. Try some basic calisthenics and run about 3 days a week. Just don't over do it and keep hydrated.

No I don't work out because I don't really find the time to, I have summer school from 12:30 to 3:30, kickboxing from 4 to 5 (we do alot of cardio in the class), and at last tutoring from 7-8. I'm considering trying out eating bananas everyday. Any other fruits you recommend for me to eat?? Thanks for replying [IMG]http://www.fightingarts.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif[/IMG]

The kickboxing should be enough of a work out for you to increase your stamina. You might want to try to find 20-30 minutes a day just to run. Three days a week will be plenty for what you are looking for. Just eat a banana each morning or at lunch and drink plenty of water through out the day.
