Hi i've posted a similar topic before and got some good advice (i can't find it to bump it back up).

I work as a security guard in harrogate north yorkshire and want to find somewhere to train.

I box as well but would like to learn something that incorporates more grappling.

anywhere that's serious about training would be good,i've tried looking online but the little i've found seems to be aimed at kids.

i've not that long got out of the army,i'm fit, confident and ready to train and start learning.

i'm not from round here so if anyone is or happens to know the area or any suitable gyms/dojos here please help me out.

There is a Gracie Academy affiliate in Bradford. It teaches BJJ/GJJ, but the emphasis is first and foremost on "self-defence" skills.

If Bradford is too far for you to go, there might be a Gracie Barra class in York still. There is a contact address for them on here:

This place in York offers BJJ classes too it seems:!bjj

This site has a list of Judo clubs in Yorkshire and Humberside:

To be honest with you, Judo is almost always taught first and foremost as a "sport". It still has a ton of skills that are applicable in security and law enforcement though, but bear in mind a lot of folks in the club are focused on training for sport.

BJJ, though mainly a sport, is still more likely to teach moves with an emphasis on "self defence" than Judo.
