Here is another LianPadukan video. Taken from Galeri Nasional TV1, Malaysia's premier tv channel. It's in Malay language. It features YB Dato Dr Haji Hashim, the Grandmaster of LianPadukan (the one wearing the white kopiah or headgear) & Cikgu Dr Hisham Giant, the national secretary of LianPadukan (the one with long haired ponytail). They mainly talked about the origin, philosophy, the Nukil or the ancient scroll of Silat Lian, the Buku Nukil or the ancient book that explaints the secret of the ancient scroll..Even if you guys cant understand the language, hopefully you guys can see and enjoy the moves and techniques shown in this video of LianPadukan..

Interesting stuff, looks alot like Karate, or even more like Xingyi.

Hi Zach_Zinn..thanks you for your time to read this tread..its a martial arts that origins from China, so maybe thats explains the resemblence to other chinese or japanese martial arts..However, this fighting arts have been inherited to the malay community for a hundred years..Its have been evolving through the years, upgraded and the mixture of others silat style in it like silat sendeng, silat sunting and muay thai makes it more unique..

Of course, like all arts i'm sure it does it's own thing.

The footwork and stepping really does look alot like Xingyi though, at least from my knowledge of it.

It's interesting because i've also heard some claim that Xingyi came partially from some Muslim sources..

Hi Zach_Zin..
i'm not surprised that you mention silat LianPadukan resembles Xingyi. I've got other people says that LianPadukan looks like Wing Chun..One thing for sure it is a kind of Kung Fu style of fighting..In Malaysia, most silat styles will have some kind of locking technique. However, in LianPadukan, there's no locking involved. Only striking technique. Even when blocking a punch, a LianPadukan practitioner do not simply block it, he will strike or 'titik' the attacker's hand. Then the LianPadukan practitioner will counter attack with his 'perisai'.The 'perisai' will act as a shield if the attacker launches a second punch with the other hand, but the 'perisai' will strike the attacker's face if the attacker's other hand is not active. Then, a LianPadukan practitioner will strike with a punch that follows up the 'perisai'.This is the basic of Jurus 1 in the LianPadukan sylibus..

Yang Datang Kita Sambut, Yang Balik Kita Turut..
This is another philosophy in LianPadukan. It means that what ever that comes will be received and what ever that goes back will be followed. In other words, when ever an attacker throws a punch or kicks to a LianPadukan practitioner, a LianPadukan practitioner will received it with a strike and when the attacker pulls back the punches or kicks (usually in pain), a LianPadukan will follow up with another strike..

According to Cikgu Hisham Giant( National Secretary of Persatuan Seni Silat LianPadukan Malaysia), whoever wants to learn LianPadukan, the new students needs to learn to accept pain of being hit, strong mental & fizical fitness and an open mind. Being in a real fight is painful, so new students need to learn to endure and accept pain. LianPadukan do not teaches and encourage the practitioner to start a fight but if there's a need to fight, the practitioner have learned the skills & arts of fighting. Before being hit by the enemy in a real fight, LianPadukan teaches it's practitioner to endure being hit and also how to strike the enemy. Whatever it is, LianPadukan teaches the concept & philosophy of "Want To Hit but Dont Want to be Hit". LianPadukan teaches the practitioner to always be cautious, curious and always ready.

hi...
The news of the passing away one of guru tua 'Buah Pukul',the late Pak Andak Wahab, age 82, on saturday, 11:25am in Rompin, was informed in Cikgu Hisham Giants blog (LianPadukan Martial Arts Academy). He is one of the guru tua that the Grandmaster of Seni Silat LianPadukan, Dr Mohammed Hasyim has the privilage to learned from. The late Pak Andak teaches 'Buah Pukul' to Dr Muhammed Hasyim in the early 80's and his teaching is another version of 'Buah Pukul' which is known as 'Buah Pukul Endau'.
Condolences to the family of the Late Pak Andak wahab and may Allah places him in the heaven's above..
Al-Fatihah...
