In this case the connection is clear, he used it as a way to gain access... (it might have been harder if he'd been posed as a cookie-making instructor for the girl guides)but how often do we get this kind of thing reported where it is NOT an issue?

I think that, just as this is coming out for the various churches, this will eventually come out for TKD schools - as well as Karate schools judo schools, and any martial arts that caters to children.

Hence why in the UK we have CRB/ISA checks done regularily and Child protection policies in the UK.

Its not fool proof but it stops a majority of possible offenders.

For normal people we have the same feelings about these people. but as a Christian, I pray for the children and ask that God allows them to recover quickly from their ordeal.

I wish they had help/therapy groups for these people so that they can attend these "groups" BEFORE they offend thus no child would be harmed as they've already had help to stop them from doing what they do.

This is also an issue in dancing, gymnastics, yoga, or any sport really where the position of the body is pivotal to doing the movement correctly. At my last dance school you always had to ask permission to touch before making any corrections, and in this way, it becomes ingrained in all students, especially children, that the instructor only has the rights you give them with respect to contact. Education on one's rights is incredibly important with children, especially those naturally submissive to authority.

It isn't quite that easy. Sexual attraction to children is neurological. The thoughts and feelings when they first present themselves cannot be helped, and because of the extreme stigma and persecution that exists surrounding it, this group of people are extremely unlikely to seek help. Some are even neurologically incapable of comprehending that their urges are socially inappropriate to begin with.

That is an excellent method that should be implemented more along with policies already in existent that seem to not be 100% along with simple parental precaution.

I can see the case for being more careful with regards to touching children, but these are contact sports. Learning to distinguish between a threatening touch and a non-threatening touch is vital to any fighter. How does a teacher provide that kind of benefit to the student while at the same time accommodating the fact that they are children?
