Re his dan rank, I didn't mean for it to be definitive. I used the term "I believe" I thought that would be sufficent to articulate this point.
As to the use of Shodokan/Tomiki term, you are correct as I understand it. I should've worded it more carefully.
Re Tomiki and Ueshiba, there are any number of reports about problems between Tomiki and Usehiba about the direction Tomiki took his Aikido:

As for everything else, as I finished what I said with "That is the history as I know it" If anyone accepted totally what I said, despite the fact I made sure to select wording that would indicate what I was saying was speculative, well, I'd be worried for that person. Short of putting in a lengthy disclaimer about how reliable what I was told by my old Aikido teacher, who himself was informed by many others and so on, I don't think I could've done much more.
We can listen to who we like and read whatever we wish, but unless you were there and knew all the key players very well, anything else we come up with will always be speculative/ 2nd/3rd/4th...hand.
What I did write was done to help create a discussion on Shodokan Aikido. This is what it has done.
We are all on here to learn. If you have something to share, please share. I wonder for instance, if you knew much about the technical differences between Shodokan and Tomiki Aikido? I have heard about these, but haven't been able to find out where they differ.
Any information/correction always welcome.
