This is a short blurb from the Associated Press regarding a new film about Bruce Lee:

Filmmakers cast Hong Kong singer as Bruce Lee
June 21, 2010 - 7:39am

HONG KONG (AP) - Filmmakers have cast a rising star from Hong Kong to play Bruce Lee in an upcoming biopic that focuses on the late kung fu icon's youth.

Aarif Lee rose to fame by playing a high school track star in the recent hit "Echoes of the Rainbow," a nostalgic look at 1960s Hong Kong. The 23-year-old was a physics major at London's Imperial College.

The actor bowed to a statue of Bruce Lee on Hong Kong's waterfront at a press conference Monday. He said he was preparing by watching Lee's films and practicing the wing chun fighting style he learned as a teenager in Hong Kong.

"Bruce Lee: My Brother's Story" is funded by a consortium of studios from Hong Kong and mainland China. It will start shooting in June.

I just dont see the point of another Bruce Lee movie. Jason Scott Lee did a great job in 'Dragon: The BL story' , even if they did paint an idealised picture, and tried to tie his and Brandon's death together by way of curses and god knows what.

But remove the mystique from the name and the man, and what have you got? I mean, the guy was 32 when he died, so there really isnt that much factual story to tell behind the myth, and I am not so sure people want to see him as the regular human being he was.

I agree with you Cord, there's enough out there in literatures if anyone wants to dig deep into BL's life. When we first hear of BL we think of his movies not his deeds. It's his movies that inspire not the actual events that took place in his life. I remember when I saw 'Dragon' I was so young. At the end of the movie my father could see the disappointment on my face. It was the first time I saw Bruce Lee as a regular man. A cocky arrogant kid. I didn't know he smoked, I never knew he had sex or was a dish washer. For me is was a martial arts god who kicked a$$ and looked cool doing it.

It wasn't till years later as a young adult deciding what art to take that I did my homework and looked at his biography and the history of all the alternative arts other than kung fu and karate.

I'll look forward to it. How can you get too much Bruce Lee? And I'll add an agreement with the above post - It does have to be good quality. Otherwise, may as well not make it.
