Hey all!

I posted a vid from my first BJJ tourney last fall. I did not win, but thought it was a good effort. Last night I brought my new Flip video camera to no-gi class at my school and caught some video of me rolling with one of our purple belts. He is a very good grappler and a good friend of mine. I caught him with a nice RNC - and I don't catch him often! Thought I would share - I am pretty pleased with how my training is going and admittedly wanted to "show off" a bit ;-)

Feedback, is of course always welcome.

Wow, you have really good base, Mike. Very nice! You were able to regain your posture pretty easily in the second round, too. You would tool me easily, LOL!

Thanks for the kudos, Matt. But not sure I could "tool" many folks easily, least of all you (who has been training in BJJ longer than I have).

Either way, my bubble was busted later on that night when I rolled with a guy who has several years of judo/wrestling/MMA experience - I think he sandbagged a bit at the beginning of our match, and then neck-cranked me easily. I have that on video as well, and can post my defeat later this evening from home blush.

Looks pretty good. As soon as you get that dudes legs to break, you should be pinning them down with something and moving to pass. I noticed one time when you break his legs and he's allowed to scoot back and regain his base. As soon as those legs separate, start thinking about keeping at least one of them completely pinned to the floor!
