I recently posted on taking a second art with my Goju Ryu training and the consensus appeared to be to study Judo. I found a club in my area and am wondering if it's a McDojo so to speak. I have no reason in particular to think it is, I'm just trying to be cautious and ensure I get quality training. If someone could look over their website and let me know if you believe it's a quality school that would be intensely helpful. Thanks

Seems fine. The rates a pretty good. You will find this with most Judo schools though.

I would check it out, everything looks ok from the website. In addition, there seems to be a few Karate-ka who are part of the club. They might be able to make the move between Karate and Judo easier.

Also, it says that the head instructor won bronze at the Olympics, so that certainly separates him from the pack.

If they are members of the USJA USJUDO or USJF you should be OK

Judo has very strict governing bodies (the ones above) coaches have to be certified

If this schools students compete in tournaments they have to be member of one of this associations (both the school, the coach and the students themselves)

Lets put it this way, in my daugher's judo club, if you start at 5 and stick with it you make get your black belt at 18

There is no buy your belt in Judo

Judo being an Olympic sport is highly govened, when my daughter competes at the National Level, she has tp produce a birth certificate, and her applications has to be signed off by a coach that is accredited by one of the associations

Most Judo coaches have been doing it for at least 20 years min

Even referee have to be trained and signed off

Looks like their students compete in nationally recognized torunaments, Great Lakes Judo Open, so you should be fine
