I remember it well. He took two of our biggest baddest black belts (obviously I was not one of them), fought them at the same time, and pretty much wiped the floor with them.

there were actually a few ways to do hakutsuru being haned down. hohan soken didnt just teach kise the versions. there were numerous top students of his and for the longest time yuichi kuda was by his side. and not just kuda...many others. there were variations of hakutsuru... coming from shaolin and through names like gokenki. i am assuming everyone in this discussion is from a matsumura practitioner but i bet almost everyone of us do the kata diffenret. and american sensei, masters who teach matsumura karate, names alexander,lindsey,gillespie,etish and so on all do the stlye different. due to body structure and dynamics the way the kata is performed and practiced has changed overtime.

Interesting points DJ. But not just American sensei all do kata differently. All of Soken sensei students do kata differently. Even the ones who did not train with anyone but Soken sensei.

My sensei was only a student of Soken sensei. Period. And his kata are different from other teacher's kata.

Interesting how kata changes or the applicatiion of kata changes.

I guess the only video I have seen of you was you punching a bag-it's half the size of the one I use so I assumed it was a 50#-my mistake.
I assume you have videos of you based on your response-now are these fights involving punching and kicking or just grappling?
Did you post any where you lost? My point being judging someone by one loss, on one day is mistake if you want to judge there abilities. Suppose we looked at St.Pierre and Penn. If you looked only at the one fight (take your pick) you might come up with a different opinion of each ones ability.
I didn't realize that training with someone else on the forum was a requirement to post-Once again you are right, I am wrong, I am sorry. Does anyone live in Central Minnesota so we can train together so I can be allowed to post on the forum?
