I heard recently that a pressure point can lose its potency and you can get used to it, if used constantly on you. Has anyone else heard that?

I imagine that is true for some. Thai boxers routinely take thigh kicks that would drop you and I like a bad habit. Some Chinese styles practice kicking each other in the groin, etc.

Oh you just brought back a memory. I remember doing exercises kind of like that. You face your partner in a horse stance with hands up in a fighting guard. Then you take turns back and forth kicking each other left and right to points like Sp 9, Sp 10, Gb 31, working your way up. Is this what you mean?
What about Iron Shirt training?

Thanks MattJ and underdog, I don't do any PP stuff myself at the moment and was curious about this aspect of it. Underdog, how much did that method of training hurt or was it not very heavy contact?

You can make it as tough as you want. You can hurt if you want. That is a mutual agreement between you and your uke. It depends on your objective. I can think of at least 6 different training objectives for this kind of drill.
