The very basic kata taught in Okinawan Goju teaches one of the techniques he used. Namely age uke as a strike. Amongst other things a strike for use in self defence after grabbing a wrist and striking the fingers upwards. The very basic Okinawan Goju kata. Brians quote Quote: What videos? It is not a place I would tend to observe but glad to hear about age uke being used as a strike. Realy basic move he used dont you think? Effective leading to a K.O in the first video. It could be said that at least some practicing karate ka do have an input on the karate thread sometimes. Pity you didnt find it on the video but I suppose you have other things to do such as glands and stuff. Did you tell Vince by the way? Did you look at the videos posted at the start of the thread? Age uke means up or rising block and we teach that it can be used in a varity of ways. Namely it's a two way action like most blocks. Pulling down on the offending arm and rising underneath the elbow while 'sinking' for a dislocation. Pulling inward and down(chamber) and striking to the throat or side of the neck depending on the offending arm(attack/grab). There are others.. Quote: Brian.
