This is a common tactic by people who wish to cover up their own insecurities. Brian is not really that smart of a guy. He clearly has difficulties discussing things in great depth. Therefore, when someone goes deep into a subject beyond the grasp of his mental capabilities his insecurity kicks in. He then must deflect questions posed to him through his attempts at humor and insults. Most of which go unnoticed by most here. However, there are others who are more heavily scrutinized.

Actually, if you read Brian's responses (and not just the header), they were thoughtful and on topic - unlike the above. FWIW, I agree totally with Marcel about principles vs. techniques. Although this works both ways ie; sport training can transfer into self defense for the same reason.
