My question is this: is it considered advertising to post links to your own site even if the info is free? I have been thinking about it and that is my only object to ttruscott's posts. And the fact that not all the links are really relevant to what is being talked about.

Members have asked these questions before, and it comes down to the FAQ/rules being rather open. I believe Admin might have asked Mr. Caille, the site owner, before. But no changes/updates/clarifications have been made.

Well...it would be nice if Admin could update/tweak the rules a bit to reflect that. http://www.fightingarts.com/ubbthreads/faq.php?Cat=0#rulesPersonally, I get 'irked' when members come across as merely 'using' the site for self-gain. Looking to garner new students, promoting their wares (free or otherwise...cause 'free' today could add up to a book or seminar down the road that isn't), or just in general 'taking' from the site. As was mentioned before, those that add to the site, that contribute, helps to figure the 'intent' of the individual.

The rules in that FAQ are actually part of the generic UBB program, not specific to this (or any) forum. They can be modified, if I remember correctly.
