yes I know I don't have some in there.
chinese sword for example. I can't beleive I forgot that. Of all the swords that should've been there, SWORD would've been a nice one, They won't let me edit the poll so just hit I forgot something really important
but I put in thirty choices, that should keep you happy

anyone who's seen my introduction knows That I'm probably gonna collect swords like old people collect teacups.
I like swords, They're an Art form. As are the other choices.
so choose your weapon. (I want to know what most people prefer. And I KNOW at least ONE person who has antlers)
What's your weapon
Multiple choices allowed

You don't necessarily have to HAVE the weapon yourself, nor actually have training for it.

Its spelt Shuriken, and you forgot flails although technically they can fit into chained weapons with a handle.

I've ticked the weapons I regularly train with, which covers most of the list.

The "other weapon" I now train with is the garrocha.

Technically its a cross between a lance and a spear but its over 4m long so really it needs its own category in my opinion as it behaves slightly differently to both due to its length and how we use it.

Should be an interesting poll.

Sounds fun Reiki. We used to do some naginata vs. sword or naginata vs naginata stuff in the kenjutsu classes. Drills and techique with wooden and then battodo with foamflex weapons. It was interesting and crazy fun. If we had enough in class we even did a few 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 "battles" at a full charge. I know, silly martial games. But it was alot safer than when we were doing kendo sparring sans protective gear.

I train with a Iaito(dull katana) and a Jo which is a staff. Plus a bokken which is covered by other. As well as my collection of Tanto-point knives.

oak bo, heavy steel bo, 2 fighting knives with a half/false reverse edge (love the flexibility of not needing to turn the blade over to reverse a cut),escrima style sticks.

NO PROPER TRAINING So won't be entering any competitions anytime soon. Done these weapons for about 15 years.

Shaken, long staff, clubs, knife. Teeny tiny bit of Japanese sword. Haven't done any of that stuff in years, though.

I have a Crossbow, and a katana. I cant use a normal bow because I am so innaccurate with them. I like Crossbows because they are kind of like rifles, also because of the way you hold them I am alot more accurate with them.
Before christmas I spent an entire day in the snow with my crossbow, increasing my accuracy. Great fun.
If youre thinking of getting a Crossbow, get one of those kiddy "training" ones. They are rather accurate and are fun, also that'll give you some idea of whether it feels good for you or not. Because when it comes to crossbows quality is expensive.

I prefer regular bows. We had a month long session in gym two years ago which was entirely archery. I only got maybe three bulleyes, whilst barry, the high scorer, got 12

Sai and Kama are missing, both of which I regularly train with. Escrima and bo deserve separate billing, as they are truly not related.

I never was a fan of nunchaku, How do you stop it when you swing it?

Of all of these my favorites are the Rope Dart, Chinese Broad Sword and Sai.

I have forms/katas for:

Bo Staff, Escrima/Kali Sticks, Spear, Japanese Sword, Chinese Broad Sword, Hook Swords, Sai and Nunchaku.

I have a working knowledge of:

Kung Fu Fans, Tunfa, Kamas, Butterfly Swords, Chan Whip and Rope Dart.

I own but haven't had time (or inspiration) to work with:

3 Sectional Staff, Judge Brush Pens and Emei Piercers/Needles.

Would love to own and work with:

Guan Dao, Monk Spade, Butterfly Wing Sword, Bullwhip, Meteor Hammer, Straight/Tai Chi Sword and several more.

As far as stopping nunchaku you stop them on your body using the chain as the impact point. If done correctly you feel no discomfort and you're immediately ready for another swing. You can also stop them without letting it contact you by gradually (yet quickly) slowing them down so that tension is kept on the chain at all times. It's just something you have to get a feel for.

It goes by many names, I'm not sure which one is the proper.

Cicada's (butterfly) Wing Sword
Butterfly wing blade
Cicada wing blade
etc...

Oh, and lets not forget my number one weapon...the firearm

I've gotten really fond of nunchaku since the style I do uses them held arms-length out. No slapping them around your body or behind your back. It's much easier to control the motion and power by rotating your body than just using your arms.

A nunchaku is basically dead after it makes contact, though. Try it on a bag or better yet a target made from a tied-up rope and you will see. That's why we use a pair in each hand, so at least you get two good hits in one attack.

Other fun uses are thrusting into an opponent by holding one half in each hand and using the rope to trap and crush wrists and necks. They probably aren't so great against other weapons, though unless you have really good aim and can take out the weapon-holding hand.

Train for use of the katana and I've seen enough mythbusters to be sold on it being awesome if I get into using it for real one day. Only other weapon that really interests me is a jointed staff and that wasn't on there =p

Did'nt See The Chinese Straight Sword Called By So Many Different Names.(Tai Chi Sword or Wu Jian). And I'm A Little Curious Why The Wing Chun Bunch Has'nt Mentioned The Double Butterfly Swords.

because I can't edit the poll.
I realized I left out jian right after I posted

don't even ASK why coat hangers are there. I draw swords and other things and I just took the options off my menu, leaving out ridiculous things like gunblades and a few other things

then again, a coat hanger COULD make a decent weapon.
like hook swords and maybe a katar or some sort of knife mixed together

I train with extremely short sticks called chizikun bo. Some people call them tekko but that's not the correct terminology. It's a short stick (Sticks out of the closed fist about 1/2 to 1 inch on either side) with a loop of either rope or leather in order to insert a single finger.

I also train with the cane using hapkido and escrima techniques mostly. I just like all of the locks, traps, hooks and throws that the crook is so very useful for. It also happens to be legal to carry anywhere no matter your age.

Guan Dao rules!! I love mine, especially the gasps it brings when I unsheathe it before a competition. (Got to perform it to the accompaniment of taiko drums once, it was awesome.) For the record I also train with staff, and have a little time in with fans.

favorites are mid-range jhang bong (long stick), bhang mang ee (escrima sticks) and (in need of a LOT of training to even be a beginner) katana (gum-do).

Hmm... I love my kubaton, it is likely the one I use the most. I am pretty accurate with my pistol, also. I am also learning to use the sai, and loving those, too!

But, all in all, gimme my gun or my katana, any day of the week.

I've been working on learning fan (tessen), but not in a soft style like kung fu or tai chi. I've done some reading and decided to use it in a harder way (I do karate), with more strikes, jabs and hard slashes--no smooth waving or throwing from hand to hand. I've read that fans were used in ancient Japan in places where other weapons were forbidden, and were also used by law enforcement either alone or in conjunction with a type of mace (name escapes me at the moment.) So far, I use just one fan, not two; I think I'm going to stick with that as it seems to me more logical for a practical weapon of self-defense. Not that I'm going to carry the thing around with me, but it makes my imaginary fighting (kata) seem more real to me.
