This might be sort of a 'trick' but it seems it could have practical application in popping up quickly off the floor. But whenever I try it, I land smack on my back. Help? Get Up

Thank you very kindly. Is this something that needs to be learned very young? Also, I never see females do this, is there something about body mechanics that is different for women? (I am a 36 year old female, Blue stripe in Hapkido, Green Belt in Kyuki-do).

I'm sure it helps to learn it young, but RazorFoot is an old ba$tard , and I've seen him do it a few times. Don't see why females can't do it. Pretty sure I've seen some do it in the movies, etc.

If you check the TKD forum, in the North Korea ITF demo, I know at least one women does it there. It is something anyone can learn to do with practice and good instruction. I kind of picked it up from watching movies. Strong abs help.

I have seen a few WWE girls do this as well, as well as Shawn Micheals ... that is a signature thing he does prior to laying the boot to somebody's head.

I'm still falling on my back But I dont have alot of upper body strength, so maybe I'm not pushing off hard enough with the hands. Also, i had a dislocated shoulder (The perils of Hapkido training!) so who knows...But I've got to learn it! Any other cool, relatively easy 'tricks' out there for 36 year old to learn? I'm not experienced in gymnastics, but I'm slender and fairly fit(119 pounds and 5'5". I've been in MA for a year (blue/green belt in Hapkido). Just looking to spice things up a bit to make training more fun.
