Thanks for the post. Does anyone think Lague being kicked out would affect the school I am considering? Or should it affect my decision in joining it anyway? Would I be out of line to contact the AJJF for further details? If so please let me know. I am inexperienced regarding choosing a new school.

Sorry man, but I gotta disagree with you. He named his new style Danzan Ryu Zenyo Bujutsu. I don't think it's right to use DZR in the name of his style since he's no long affiliated with the AJJF. I might be being overly protective but I don't want anyone to associate him with DZR. It's good that he gives Okazaki credit for what he's learned but I still think he should name his style something else. I couldn't find a list or description of the techniques he's teaching so I guess I can't say whether he's teaching real DZR or not but I stand by my other opinion.

Don't worry, he didn't do anything illegal, just immoral.

Thank you. The thing is that I am already commuting to Minden, NV for my Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu class and that is a hour and 20 minute drive from Fallon. So another long commute to Reno plus being a full time college student forcludes that option for now. I think I will try Koshinkan, it is run by a black belt of LaGue's and not him personally. He is actually based in Sparks, NV. Also I found this link head of sierra jujitsu that says that the head of high sierra jujitsu got his start with the Bushidokan. Don't now if it matters just a interesting bit of info. Maybe I will try high sierra eventually. Anyway I will keep my eyes open and always be aware.

I hope you like it. Jujutsu is a lot of fun. Also iteresting, though, that Frank broke off to join the AJJF.

I agree jujitsu is alot of fun. However, I have an update. Earlier, I had almost made up my mind to join the school but I still had some doubts. I took the opportunity to ask my Sensei's advice after class tonight. His advice confirmed my own doubts and I decided to not join the school and federation. Because I don't want my martial arts to get involved in that sort of thing. And I feel I couldn't have him as an superior.

Hey, I would just like to clarify something. Herb isn't an AJJF Professor anymore, he was kicked out. He had good technique but his behaviour toward his students was inappropriate.

May I ask what his inappropriate behavior was? It was my understanding that the AJJF told him to change and he outright refused and left the AJJF. Not for inappropriate behavior towards students, but for wanting to extend the system and teaching his extensions of the system.

Although I'm a karate guy, I know exactly two Danzan ryu players and I can arrange an intro if yo wan to check it out.

Very strong, very fluid with great attention to detail.
