well, im headed of to my first tournament in about 4 hours. i gotta admit im starting to get a bit nervous, im doing kumite. anyone have any advice, mostly on fighting, the nerves'll go away in a bit, they always do.

yeah, i was just kinda nervous and was trying to kill time. i ended up coming in 2nd. i lost by 1 point in extra-time. not bad for my first tourney i reckon.

Congratulations. I fought in my first tournament this past weekend, too. I lost both fights but I did have a good time.

Nice job ! I remember my first tournament as a yellow belt and I have to say , the first few tournaments are much more about trying it out and getting used to competitions in general. You can train for decades and the butterflies will never truly go away .

I got advice for you if you get nervous again. 'Ave a shot o' whisky about 20 minutes before your first match (just one shot, nothing more). Thats what the 'sox (think it was them) coach gave to his team in the locker room to get the butterflies out before the world series. Helped kill the butterflies and let em go on to win the game. Thats what I would do if i were you.
