The Gracies did well in a field that they helped pioneered. But wrestler do more then fight them to a stand still now, and always the new becomes common and the common becomes old. Still valid but old if it doesn't catchup.
I enter the case of the Japanese wrestler Sakuraba known as the Gracies killer, he beaten every Gracies JJ player thats he been matched with. No dis-respect to the Gracies, they made their point in MA history but lets keep the facts straight. Wrestling is just as valid as JJ in groundfighting if you are a Karateka.
In the early UFCs matches you are correct all the single or multiple range skills were lacking groundfighting because it was new to them. Not the case in anymore.

BTW Oldman, I never would have pegged you as a control freak or someone that smiles in a dudes face then stabs your boy in the back. Like I always say, don't trust the Cheshire Cat types who base their lives on being nice in person, but who hate your arse when you leave the premises. I take back anything nice I've said about your style or who I thought you were. Let's just keep it real. BTW it's "TROOF", not "TROUF". Sorry if I have a habit of telling it in a frank manner. If you want patent, dull conversation from a lot of folks who wish they knew karate you ban someone like me. If you want some spice and alternate knowledge, you let guys like me speak the troof. What about the 1st Amendment Capt. America? Dowhatchalike...
Here you go again down the same path. Oldman did what other mods including me wanted him to do, BAN YOU. If I had the button I'd ban you right now. Instead of thanking him for allowing you to continue to yap your snapper freely on here once again you go for the attack against the man's karate, real classy. You were banned for your continuous abuse of your RIGHTS and here you go again. I suspect it won't be long before you are banned again. If you are banned here again I won't welcome you back.
Bye bra! Drop it altogether and get back to the topic. Any continuation will be edited or deleted by ME, not oldman. DowhatYAlike homeslice...

Jim san,
I didn’t see anything that was even remotely similar to the reprehensible dialogue witnessed on Henry Norris’ list, Karate-Budo.com and wondered about your caveat. To me it didn’t make sense. Isn’t everyone entitled to their say irrespective of how hot it gets? We’re all adults here and surely a little sarcasm, criticism and cynicism is a far cry healthier than the venomous diatribe spewed by the likes of faultless critic and “all-knowing expert” Gene Williams, or his pal, E-Thug/legend in his own mind, Robby Rousselot.
I found these two threads over there on karate-budo.com very informative. Some very interesting questions were raised.
Questions for Patrick McCarthy?
and
Question on bunkai - Where does your's come from

well, it's fortunate for you that you can use anonimity as your sheild to give you enough courage to post here.
...or unfortunate that someone would point that out.
depending on your perspective.

I detect a bit of animosity but I am not sure why. Have I crossed some boundary? I merely stated they were interesting threads and didn't chose a side in that discussion.
Oh, by the way, my real name is Dan Peterson

Really? Dan Peterson.
Let me see.
1. It's known that Rob Rousselot trolls the internet for any Oyata material.
2. 'OkinawanPeichan' is over at MT...and has the same tone, and MO as RR. But after some pressure came across with the name of 'Freddy Martinez'.
3. There are few members at Karatebudo...what is your sign over over there...so I can check.
4. I suspect this is a personal vendetta, as Mr. Morris and Jim Neeter were both harrassed at that site, their name comes up this week...and 'voila'...you show up.
I think you are RR, or his schill. Who is your teacher?

Sorry, I don’t know Mr. Morris and Jim Neeter but have seen their posts. I am Merlin on Karate Kobudo I left you a little love note over there by the way. Anymore questions?
PS I do know Gunny Martinez

Nope. Although...it seems 'odd' that you would come here, pick up on an Oyata thread, mention threads over there that no one here has access to or even understand why you reference them??? Unless, of course...you are trolling?? Quote:

I didn’t see anything about this being an “Oyata thread”. The title doesn’t mention it nor have I seen any comments on Oyata in this thread. I cam here because a Forum I belong to was mentioned here and posted some interesting links that might be interesting for folks to read.

Apologies, then. Haven't had my second cup of coffee and a little sleepy still. Why mention posts from a 'closed' forum that no one can access? But back to the seemingly forgotten original topic: does karate attempt to do too much (or something like that)
