TGIF.

Been considering this little thread for awhile. I'm not one for posting anything personal unless it's on the upside...and it's been mostly down for a few months. However, there have been some sweet moments this week. 'Gifts'.

Some big:

-Saw a motorcycle accident last week and was certain the woman was deceased. Never saw human 'roadkill' before, and haven't been able to process it. Found out she is still alive. Don't know her, but praying she comes through.

-Stopped the foreclosure on my house and we have a little breathing room to consider what's next.

-Made a few promises to myself, and just for myself. The kind of ones you keep close, and don't talk about because they might get away.

Some small:

-Found a lump, but it turned out to not be cancer.

-My diet seems to be working again. Lost a lot of weight a few years back, and then it stalled, and some of it returned. Wish me luck...5 down and 30 more to go.

-Scraped the money together to buy a bike and found a lovely deserted road in the woods that I can just bike for miles and miles.

And the best are the unexpected ones...like 'Care' packages that come at work. Thanks, Brad (Butterfly), for easing the week.

I almost became one of these myself on the weekend. Passed a semi truck on the highway to the lake on my 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6 and when I got back into my lane I did not see the pot holes and got a speed wobble at 147 kmp (91 mph). My buddy thought I was a goner and at the time of it until I got it under control I was mentally fine. Later at the lake it didn't really bother me as I put it out of my mind so I could enjoy the day with our families (they drove up in the truck a 1/2 hour earlier). We didn't mention the mishap so as not to ruin things. Later at home I told my wife and I think that is when it sunk in that I could have got hurt or died ... probably the later as the semi truck would have killed me if the crash wouldn't have. This will make me a better rider as I will now look for pot holes and things on the road better. Also reminds me to enjoy life and we all have a time to go.

Read the rest of your stuff as well Harlan. Looks like a lot is going on with you. My wife found a lump last year and was fearful but it was only a cyst and once drained was fine. Stick to those promises. Good luck with your diet but realize you will be the one to make the difference so keep positive. Enjoy your bike and your rides. And lastly, take care of yourself.

speaking of motorcycles, i don't mind if people want to speed occasionally, but is it REALLY a good idea for someone to be doing 100+ MPH on the highway with no shirt on and shorts. I saw a guy doing this with his girlfriend on the back in a BIKINI and the carnage that would ensue if they had an accident was just mind boggling.

My friends father is a surgeon and referred to these as "donor bikes" because they are usually young healthy men with good organs.

I know they enjoy the speed and the freedom, but I doubt they appreciate the risk.

Yeah but you have to take those risks to get the girl in the bikini!

A few of my friends are big into bikes and my dad used to motor race. One of my best friends fathers is a vegetable after an accident.

Personally, I think the risk of owning a bike would always put me off.

But I can understand the thrill it gives some people. Its not my place to tell others what to do especially when they know the risks. Obviously, the consider this and offset it against the thrill they get from riding.

My High-speed should be called No-speed.

It's really fast, but disconnects me every minute. I'd trade the speed for being able to stay connected for at least 1 hour at a time.

My wife is on her way back from the beach. I miss her greatly. She's my best friend.

Got a new car. The other one I swore I would drive until the wheels fell off. Well, the motor decided to go before the wheels did. I managed to get a quarter of a million miles of HARD driving on it before it gave up the ghost. Not too bad over 7 years really.

Driving from work, to home, my parents (100 miles away) and the gym several times per week will add up. Its all about living hard and fighting the good fight though, so I don't complain much.

The shoulders on the other hand...that's been something to complain about! DAMN that age thing is catching up quickly. Its my fault for being slack about strength training. Screw it though, there are only so many hours in a day. Sheesh!

Here's to asking Cord to help an working man, find a simple, effective strength training program that will target what I need in as little time as possible! Up to the challenge bro?
