hey im new here and i was reading about adrenaline. Is it a bad thing before a fight because people want to control it. Wouldnt it be better for the extra boost? is there a way to have you adrenaline even if your not "in danger"?

Epinepherine. My favorite drug.

Epinepherine is like a double-edged sword in my opinion. I don't know how Epinepherin works for other but for me it make me faster, stronger, a lot tougher and things seems to slow down (it's actually your brain speeding up). The trade-off is usually I get tunnel vision and sometimes I feel numb all over, which isn't good. Punching with a numb fist isn't the greatest experience.

To have epinepherine flowing in your body is good before a fight, but not too much. Some people experience "adrenaline dump" pre fight, and may throw up to make the body lighter.

None that I can think of, no.

stick a fork in a socket. When the shock stops your heart, the medics will stab a biga$$ needle straight into it and pump you full of epi.

Nah just kidding They'll just use the AED and jump start you again.

But you could still try that fork thing.

The inverted-U function

"The relationship between changes in arousal and motivation is often expressed as an inverted-U function (also known as the Yerkes-Dodson law). The basic concept is that, as arousal level increases, performance improves, but only to a point, beyond which increases in arousal lead to a deterioration in performance. Thus some arousal is thought to be necessary for efficient performance, but too much arousal leads to anxiety or stress, which degrades performance." (Encyclopaedia britannica 2005)

Different activities however will have their own optimal level of arousal, so you have to decide how much is the right amount.

Epinepherine is the official name of adrenaline, and I'm having so much problem trying to spell adreniline, because I have no idea how adrelarine is spelt. So I'm sticking with epinepherine because it's a lot easier then adrenarine.

As for where to aqcuire this drug? Watch porn, stand near the edge of a cliff, throw a stone and try to headbutt it in air, put your face near an angry rottweiler or something. Anything that makes you excited usually means that your body starts to secrete epinepherine in order to make the body ready for 'flight or fight' response.

Or you could have it pumped into you via injections or nose sprays (people with diabetes sometimes prefer this method as they have to regulate where they inject themselves).

The most painful one is to have it directly injected into the heart, which is very rare and only common in the battlefield when someone's heart is about to stop or has stopped.

I love epinepherine overdose. It's awesome. Everything becomes blurry and you throw up. Try running for 40 minutes, then have a insane dog chase you around. You'll see how awesome it is when your body is driven on only by fear and adrenalarine (Damn! I can't spell the friggin' word).

Yes, your body releases epinepherine when sexually aroused. It's to make your body ready for. . err... uhmm.. action?

Yes exactly.

Side effects of too much epinepherine in your body includes;
  • Vomitting
  • Tunnel Vision
  • Numbness
  • Damage to internal organs
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Over-strain of muscles including the heart

Basically, when epinepherine flows through your body, the body starts to divert blood to other areas of the body which isn't needed at the moment such as stomach, liver, pancrease and kidney to heart, lungs and muscles. Your body will pump more blood faster, and your heart starts pumping like a madman while your lungs have to take in more air, faster. Blood is transported to the brain in greater amount, faster.

What happens when your body can't handle the over-burden? Instead of being able to perform better, the body deteriorates instead.

Imagine you have this big dam, and you suddenly force all that water through a small crack in the damn wall. The wall may break down. Same thing with your blood vessels. More blood transported faster is dangerous.

Now what I've mentioned. Don't be freaked out by it. The only way you can get adrenaline overdose is if you inject it into your body, or sustain pro-longed periods of adrenaline secretion i.e. you do on purpose (which isn't likely).

But like all drugs, too much is bad. And epinepherine is only good in small amounts to make the body ready, not fuel the body for the whole conflict.
