A lesser known sub-section of American kenpo, mostly known from Ron Chapel, a high level student of Ed Parker's. Interesting for me to see, as no one in my area was teaching this at the time that I was active in AKK.

Somewhat similar to Wing Chun, in that first clip. Although, beyond the different drills, I am unclear on what exactly seperates it.

Hmm Matt, I am pretty sure I know the reason as to why you did not learn this stuff during your time in kenpo. It looks to me that these gentlemen finaly realized the one thing kenpo does not have. Kenpo is an extremely sexy art and can be very effective. And in fact you can see a resemblance to wing chun, FMA, silat arts in kenpo. But the one thing kenpo lacks and this is true for many kenpo schools is timing and sensitivity exercises. Which is something that can be easily taken from Jeet Kune Do. Ofcourse JKD derived it's concepts and drills from all sorts of other arts mainly weapon arts such as kaili, escrima, silat and European fencing.

AKK looks very sexy.

The teacher was awesome too. A lot of power emmiting from him.

The last video; after all those "BOOM" "WHAM" if only he said "Who's your daddy??" or "I pity the fool!" I'd thought he's Mr.T in disguise.

I did most of that stuff in my FMA classes. They work, so I give the guy a lot of credit for incorporating them.

Mattj I really enjoyed the clips of Prof. Chapel he is a hard sought after Instructor that is well resepcted in the combat orinetated arts. His real world application of Dim Mak or pressure Point/merdian knowledge is reknowned.

Not only you but I've noticed that most of the Kenpo students of more famous Uquidez, Tracys, and Steve Sanders don't stress PP though Prof Speakman, Prof Sanders system looks more (Chow's/Parker)free flowing as does Prof Chapel, Uquidez, and Tracys looks more like hard Shorin-ryu or Shotokan (Mitoes's/Parker).

The ADO drills are neat but can be found in most basic Karate (simplified or similuar), but the activation of the nerve/merdian points is what makes his application unique. IMHO.
