Wow... I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, and say he was just worn out, up too early, had a bad reaction to an anti-histamine, etc.

But I've heard a lot of drunk talk in my time, and that sounded an awful lot like it.

I asked my friend Paula Abdul to translate a portion of the interview for me.

I too could not watch the whole thing; sad. Anybody who watches this probably thinks he took one too many to the head like many boxers do. Very tired or off a late night of debauchery and fun.

hes on coke.

i saw a different video and he was acting wierd while watching a fight and cosntantly after his nose. too much white powder going up his nose.

coke makes you feel more confident greater willingness to work and more motivated. thats why hes such a good striker. you feel invisible.


im pretty sure hes on his downer (not high but sort of a drug hang over) from doing coke the night befor (or nights). when the buzz goes away you crash and can sleep a whole day just trying to regain your energie also sometimes they suffer from insomnia. so he was tired as hell.

Well, I don't know of about the coke thing. But here he is either really, really drunk, or on opiates or tranquillzers. It's possible it's prescribed. Maybe he has some injury. Sad though. I always liked Chuck Liddell.

What is happening though is he had one beer too many and not enough sleep. I've been in this position more than once (I'm swedish, so figures).

Probably had a fight, got some beer, and didn't sleep and went to that program.

All adds up to slurred speaking and sleepy behaviour. You could see he almost fell asleep there.

Agreed. i can tell you that how he acted is in no way similar to any come down from stimulant that i have ever experienced in my past, and cocaine would show up in the drug testing that the UFC does at random to its athletes. the interviewer said he was there promoting the movie 300- is he in it? If that is correct, then the endless travelling and interview circuit would be not only tiring, but also very boring for someone not used to it. Bruce Willis and Jack black are both well known for having 'off' days with reporters where they are monosylabic and unresponsive and 'absent' of mind.

i think he just partied too hard and was paying the price the day after. We have all done it, its just not all of us go global on tv with our hangovers

Let's give him a little credit... at least he didn't say the UFC was 'strugg-a-ling' and then tell the reporter 'I wanna kiss you', a la Joe Namath.

Jer_sm, please refrain from making speculations that cannot be substantiated. There is no sense running Chuck's name through the mud when there is no proof or basis for your comments. Let's give Chuck the benefit of the doubt.

I think its a rough night on beer by the looks of things, he said he saw the film last night on imax so he was probably drinking having a good time thinking it will all be alright in the morning for the interview... anyway i think chuck should shift the beer belly!

UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell is battling pneumonia.

Liddell, who was incoherent and momentarily fell asleep during a recent live interview on a Dallas television station, has been on a virtual nonstop promotional tour since beating Tito Ortiz in December.

The hectic pace caught up with "The Iceman," and the illness has put his planned May 26 bout with Quinton Jackson at UFC 71 in doubt.

"Chuck is supposed to be the headliner for that event," said UFC President Dana White. "This thing is growing so fast and Chuck Liddell is biggest star we have. The guy's not stopping. He was with (UFC co-owner) Lorenzo ( Fertitta) and I three weeks ago, and he was sick then."

Prior to the sickness, Liddell was still on the mend from torn ligaments in both a knee and finger and had yet to resume his normal training schedule.
