http://youtube.com/krunestormuaythaiThis was the gym that I found where I can train in Muay Thai. That link has the owner of the gym sparring with Randy Couture. Also apparently they filmed their workout classes. I personally am not sure what exactly I should be looking for when trying to find a gym (first time) but these clips should give you guys, the experts more than enough info to know if this place is legit or not. Also the pricing. How much do you guys pay to train? Because I'm being charged: 1 Month - $165.00 6 Months - $999.00 12 Months - $1899.00

Nestor Marte, Ultimate Gym NYC?
I believe Nestor trained and lived in Thailand for about 8 yrs or so before opening the gym. He's been teaching for about 10 yrs or so as far as I know. See what kind of fight records his fighters have. Some of his guys must have some am or pro fights under their belts. That will give you some idea of his ability to train others.
All in all, looks legit to me. Expensive but it is NYC............... right?

Wow. Right. All of what you said is right. Just because it is in the city does not mean it should be expensive though!

That $165/month must give you open membership. Basicly go to the gym anytime they are open. I believe they have open sesions everyday where all levels can train and specific sesions for various level trainees. check this out http://www.5pointsfitness.com/index.phphttp://www.muaythai-nyc.com/enter.html

This post provoked two questions from me for you all:
1.What should a monthly martial arts/boxing gym membership cost?
2.What size gloves is Randy Couture wearing in the video? 16oz or more? They look really big and awkward.

Thanks haze.
After doing some research Five Point Fitness appears to a very high quality facility...however it costs $150.00 per month.
The other gym costs $25.00 per class for its first month. If you continue then you have to pay an additional $150.00 enrollment fee. Sounds reasonable at first glance but if I want to train for 2 a week that could end up being more expensive then the other two.
What the heck are you guys paying to train in your gyms? Because these prices are boarderline ridiculous.

Damn... That's some expensive schoolage. You'd better win some competitions or something to get your money back from that. I guess I just got lucky. I just found a pro boxer willing to train me any time for free as long as I let him use my gym. I guess MT gyms can get pretty expensive because its one of the more rare forms of the arts.

damn... that hell of a lot of cash for a month.
i mean i go to boxing 3 time a week, i know its not the same but like.. i pay 20$ a month.
with the cash you spend for 1 month there, i could almost afford a whole year in boxing :P
