Thanks for posting these links! I've stumbled across a few of these videos before, but with the exception of the first link I think these videos are very impressive. Most of the videos claiming to be aikijujutsu that I've seen on youtube from the US anyway, in my not so humble opinion, just look like sloppy aikido to me. And yet they claim to be somehow more effective than aikido? I came across a four man randori from an "aikijujitsu" dojo recently, somewhere in the south I think, where the uke's were waiting to attack nage, one at a time. I wish that the uke's would be so nice at my dojo where we practice "soft" aikido! Woops, sorry that's off topic. I'll wrap this up by stating that that aikijujutsu woman in those ogawa ryu videos could kick my sorry butt! I love it! Does anyone know if that ryu has dojos in the US?

Ogawa Ryu claims to be koryu. But as the people on e-budo state, there is no evidence to support this.

All I would say is that it isn't Aiki Ju Jutsu IMHO. The term "Aikijujutsu" was coined by Takeda Sokaku at the end of the 19th century. It referred specifically to the Bujutsu Takeda Sensei had studied and taught, especially the Bujutsu of the Oshiki family. Therefore, it should relate only to his art.

It is a term that has been mercilessly ripped and abused by pseudo martial arts and samuari fantasists for years.

The fact of the matter is there are less than 60 teachers outside Japan who teach Aiki Ju Jutsu. Many use the term, but few teach the art.

Does all of this mean Ogawa Ryu is useless? Not necessarily. Is it Aiki Ju Jutsu though? No, it isn't.

Personally from the clips I have seen it looks like a more realistic approach to self defense vs. traditional Aikido. The clips also reveal that the Uke doesn't have to work as hard to make the techniques flow. JMHO

From my perspective, I like a lot of what I see in their clips. Regardless of the authenticity of source, I see technique in execution that I respect.

They also show a range of training and appliciaqtion that is interesting.

Comparing them to a lot of aikijutsu I've seen around, they're definately better.
