I agree completely. If you look at the number of altercations that take place in a major metropolitan city anywhere in the world on a given day the chances of such a thing happening are very small and on that basis very rare.

I know for a fact that it is 100% for such an event to occur. Does it take precision and skill? Obviously. But to say that it is "luck" is utter nonsense. Luck has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING in a street fight. What truly matters is the time and energy invested in the art of the practitioner, and that he has the patience and ability to land such a technique.
And as a footnote, to compare actual street combat to an organized sport, as real as it may seem, is completely ignorant. They is no way to truly emulate combat, other than actually experiencing it. Kumite, ipons, pre-arranged Kumite, and the obvious hours of kata training all help IMMENSELY in the getting ready of the karate-ka, but he/she will never really know what it's like until, God forbid, they end up in such a situation.

I'm sorry, I thought that this was hilarious! this is what most 'fights' consist of, especially when there is very little skill involved. a very good line. Funny, too.

Ok, let me ask you how many championship belts in boxing have you won? Because if you can guarantee 100% that you can get a KO, you should be a world champion by now... Even the best boxers in the world can't guarantee a KO 100% and they have some of the highest KO counts in the world.

In fact, just out of curiosity, how many times have you KOed someone? And how many times have you been KOed?

I'll tell you that my opponents failed to KO me on many occasions although they were close. It was mostly bad luck that they failed because I had no time to react. I've only been TKOed once in my 17 years as a martial artist.

I agree 100%. Even the boxers that are known to floor people can't just go in there and knock somebody out at will. Sometimes it goes to the cards no matter how badly the boxer wants and tries to knock out the guy. Sometimes the KO maestro gets knocked out while trying to knock out the other guy. KO's just kind of happen, you defend yourself and sometimes that shot you land puts the bugger out cold, sometimes not. To give a guarantee of a knockout is very unwise because you just never know. Your best technique could floor someone, but not even make some other person budge - let alone hit the floor unconscious.

It's unquestionable that good training will increase your chances of winning a fight however, even if you don't get a one-hit KO.
