Its been developed by the original creators of GTA, and there is true freedom of action (like in oblivion), so you dont have to do things in a preset order (or at all for that matter). your character powers up as the game progresses, as does your chosen vehicle.
Say you dacide you want to take down a crime lord- if you first shakedown the right people, find out who is the gangs arms supplier, and go and sort them out first, then when you go after the boss, his gang will be poorly equipped, with lower grade weapons and limited ammo. Or you can just bide your time until you can jump 4 blocks from the top of a skyscraper and bust through his window and take him out bionic ninja style all the brit reviews are raving about it, and the trailer on IGN looks dreamy

Crackdown Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtaEG4N2h6Y

This video may not due the graphics justice. When you get it Cord let me know how it looks. After playing Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Splinter Cell Double Agent and now Rainbow Six Vegas, I almost expect even better graphics as these three games were awesome.

Wow. i have just put in my first 90 mins on Crackdown and it is intense. The graphics are definately sharper than that clip would suggest, but maintain that style- it is like being immersed in a very vividly drawn comic book, and works very well with the style of game. All your stats are in a state of continual upgrade- i currently have a vertical jump of 15 feet, and can throw a 200lb object 100 feet. i have also done my first real big building to building jump and landed it one knee down breaking the floor slabs, matrix style
this does not have the scale of oblivion, but it is much more intense and busy- if you take out a group of gang members, others in a 'hit squad' actively come looking for you. Setting off chain reaction explosions is very very satisfying, with burning villains flying into the air everywhere, and you running through the carnage like a Dirty Harry/U-sol hybrid dishing out 'justice' in a way the guardian angels could only dream about.

If you liked Dead Rising, but wanted more freedom and variety, or if you liked Just cause, but wished for much more polish, or if you have ever wanted to be an anti hero with super powers and massive arsenal at your fingertips, then you will be thrilled with this game.

initial impressions: 9/10, and i cant see it getting anything but better as my characters power and thus game possibilities increase.

I am reserved to renting it first so that I like it. Going through the Tom Clancy games in a few days erks me as I could have rented them and finished them and gave them back and only have been out $4.50. Mind you they all can be played by two players which changes the dynamics of the game so they still can be fun down the road.

Thanks for the update Cord. Our wives are lucky that we don't live close to each other. Working out and playing games ... when would we have time for anything else.

I've been on the X-Box Live but only have a "Silver Account" that comes with the box for free. It came with a month of "Gold" but I never figured out how to go and play against other people.

After playing a few nights of the Fight Night Round 3, I decided to buy it at $35.00; a good deal. I set up a character and played from 1:00 AM to 5:30 AM last last night (this morning) and I then selected "X" to retire as I was going to bed and it said I had only achieved 14%. I hope I didn't lose my character. I named him after myself and gave him my weight, height and looks so fight in the light heavy weight division. Man do I look awesome; and I gave myself a tattoo.

You havent lost the character- you will be able to play him in arcade mode, but by 'retiring' you have ended his career, and lost any progress you have made

you would be better to start afresh, recreate him from scratch, and start the career again. When you want to exit the game, just press the 'B' button until you hit the main menu. The game will autosave after every fight and/or training session you partake in.

You could probably resurrect your characters career, but i think you would start from scratch but he would be older, and age of character has a bearing on your development later on. take too long to get into the big leagues, and your guy will get too old to win all the titles and challenges that occur.

Finally, I got my 360, it is awesome. I only have Fight Night 3 right now, but it is an awesome game. Problem is, like Derek I lost my first character(light heavyweight). I think I got used to the power, because I can't fight as well with my new middleweight. I might just start over again unless you guys have some fight tips for me.

Was thinking of getting one myself, as I have a new job to look forward to with a bit more money!!!

I have played on my friends 360, and it is a lot of fun. However, one of my mates complained a lot of the releases are 1st person shooters, which, if you are a fan of 1st person shooters, is great. If you are not, it can get a bit frustrating from time to time.
