Kick them first. Other than that, keep your hands up by your chin and try not to get hit. Blocking kicks tends not to be a good idea except as a last resort.

surely where the energy is comeing from doesnt matter. wither it comes fron the kick or the block its just force. sometimes in in pad training someone will hold the pad wrong and i kick the side of the pad it can hurt alot and that is really what ur doing when u block.

when the two targets hit the one that is less hard is the one that will suffer the most damage. The shin bone is one of the strongest in the body the foot has lots of little bones (and a nice soft anckle joint) between the two the foot is going to suffer most (hiting the edge of the ruler agaist a wall and rular will break not the wall).

i dont like blocking cause when its done right ur not just trying to stop the opponent scoreing ur trying to injure them so they cant fight at there full power. As for how to bock, shins blocks and elbow strikes are good and strong.

If you get a kick at your ribs, I would say the best block to do is bring your knee up to block, since it is a lot stronger than your foot. But saying that hopefully they dont sweep out your leg by itself. Just if you get the chance that is a lot better than trying to bring your arm down there, especially with not a lot of power since your own is extended low.
