Give total effort even if you do look silly. You'll destroy that large ego and you'll refine the technique over time. Two birds with one stone.

Be polite. I didn't read all six pages so if this is a repeat my apologies.

Hmmm...number one rule of martial arts...well, to my experience and knowledge...

...control what those around you know to the best of your ability. Do not appear trained out of battle, only confident. Do not appear adept inside of battle, so long as you are. A fighter who can make an opponent see gaps and mistakes where they simply do not exist will recieve more openings than one who shows his full ability.

If you must fight, engage in unrestrained violence of action with intent to inflict maximum harm; but if you must fight, you have already lost.

-Get beaten or tapped out on a regular basis (during training!). It keeps you honest.

-If you're not getting beaten or tapped out regularly, find a place where you will.

-Always remember that, no matter how hard you train, all it takes is a coward with a gun to beat you.

During drills that involve contact, remember that it's your partner's turn next.
