One question. Have youth really changed much over the decades at the core?
Or are kids still kids?

For me, after being around for 57 years, it was the teen years.

I was then too old to be bossed about and too young to be held responsible for a lot of 'things' and of course it was a time of 'firsts'

First time falling in love; first kiss; first time driving a car; first time staying over at friend's place; first time out of the country; first time handling a hunting firearm; and first look at a dynamic tension excersize being done. I am sure there were other firsts, but these came readily to my over-half-century-old brain cells.

I find that as one grows old or get on in years, one seems to develop a certain kind of cynicism i.e 'believing the worst of human nature and motives; having a sneering disbelief in e.g. selflessness of others'

I think kids are still kids...but in a pushbutton, 'on-demand', cellular, hyperlinked, instantaneous world. The challenge for the upcoming generation is that they don't lose themselves in automation from following the spiral path of instant gratification.

negotiation is hard work...conflict is instantaneous.

questioning is harder than accepting.

I just hope generations to come never stop questioning prior generations. don't let us fossils rule you.

Dont bet on it. The only way its less innocent is that you guys have the internet for porn. we oldies had to get it from the side of railway tracks

i think the main difference is that there was more room for public intervention, and harsher outcomes for bad behaviour than now. many a time I was frog-marched home by a friends parent/neighbour/police officer because of getting too rowdy or OTT, and then there were real ramifications from my parents.
Nowadays, if a kid gets taken home by the arm or is given a slap for being rude it ends in a court case.

We had to be clever to get away with what we were up to- you guys today just flaunt it because you can't be stopped- makes you obvious and lazy.

There is no option for 'It all sucked' or 'It was all equally good'.
