Looks kind if interesting. Apparently, you get into position for a sub, then let your partner out. He does the same and you get used to keeping mobile.

Well, not exactly. The idea is not to "let your partner out" as much as it is to stay loose and not hang on to anything tight. The game is about timing, spontaneity and improvisation. Allow play and experimentation without the burden of an overly competitive mindset.

Here's my instructor and some of my friends at his school on the SoFlo Video:

Thanks for clarifying, Fletch. So the object is to keep moving at all times? No subs, no crushing or stalling, etc?

Exactly Matt. You want to develop your ability to FLOW smoothly and develop your timing. As it's not about the win/loss thing, crushing is sort-of pointless.

However there is nothing wrong with catching a sub so long as you release it ("catch and release"). The idea is to not use strength, force/power, etc to get submissions, but rather to work from this technical approach. Though the submission isn't so much the goal as is the pure grappling. Catch it when you can, just let it go and continue on.

We do something like this but it is run in a loop.
A starts in B's guard
B sets up for an arm bar A stacks B
A then takes side control.
B defends full mount.
A takes full mount.
B bumps n roll to wind up in A's guard repeat.

We have a least 8 flow drills. Do at least 3 a week 5 - 10 min each.
Helps to keep you moving

After reading your post I was going to refer you to something Fletch had put on here a year or more ago but it seems he beat me to it.
