This was strength-Matt Hughes vs skills and speed-GSP. Skills and speed dominated the fight.

UFC Results: http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=eventdetail.fightCard&eid=297I watched it, I loved it and with the exception of one fight, I picked all of the winners. GSP my Canadian brother all of the way and I "knew" without a shadow of a doubt he would win. Now having met and trained with him at one of his seminars, plus having my picture taken with him, it feels that much better. Plus the technique where he caught Matt's leg and then immediately took him to the ground, this was one of the techniques taught at this seminar ... awesome.

I knew Sulvia and Vera would win but GSP? Crap, I wanted Hughes to take it. Dang.

Mir got dominated. I think it was the guys debut to who beat him, because someone else called in and couldn't make it so they picked some guy from a camp... he could fight thats for sure.
That was Vera's 4th fight in the UFC. You're thinking of Drew McFeddries who fought Alessio Sakara.

100% wrong. Matt Hughes is both skilled and fast and GSP is strong. Why do people still believe this crap that Hughes is just strong and has no skill?

he does have skill but as far as standup he lacks it, did you see his sloppy attempt at jabs? he needs more confidence and proper muay thai training he was completly outclassed.
his legs looked really beaten at the start of the second round thumbs up for GSP

Just rephase this please. Matt Hughes is skilled only on one aspect of his training. Man, he has no foot work no head movement etc. If his take downs dont work, what do he have to fall back on surely not his boxing skills or lack there of....

I love this sort of stuff. Look, Matt Hughes losing does not magically erase the high level of skill he has. It just meant he met a better fighter on the day. You know what? GSP will eventualy lose, and when that happens, he will still be an immensely skilled and talented fighter, it just means he was bested on the day. Accusing Hughes of being weak and one dimensional is silly in light of his record and the quality of oponents he has successfully defended his title against (including GSP and BJP). All that it proves is that at the very pinnacle of competition, everyone has a great chance of winning. BJP and GSP are both 1-1 with Matt. GSP's next fight will either be a rematch with MH or a defence against BJ. Either way he will have every chance of winning, and also every chance of losing.
there is a lot of crowing to be done by the 'we hate Matt' club, but personal opinion on percieved character does not nullify proven skill.
It would be like saying Phil Baroni cant punch hard because I dont like his attitude. Like him or not, he could punch my teeth out in a second.
Hughes's reign as champion, and his place in the UFC hall of fame come retirement will outlast internet criticism, and deservedly so IMO.
