I also heard that "original" JKD practitioners have their strongest side at the front, just like Bruce Lee. Is this a good way of knowing if a school teaches original JKD or concept based? Original JKD seems safer, because people haven't changed it too much. What I am after is a way to determine if a school practices JKD, so that I don't train in karate thinking it's JKD. This is why I am after a way to check if it's original JKD, eliminating the risk.
ps:Saisho why why is it 5 punches?

JKD could easily incorporate elements of karate. By trying to find and limit yourself to a formalised concept of JKD you are actually doing exactly what Bruce Lee was trying to move away from.
I think you need to pick up a copy of 'the tao of Jeet Kune Do' and actually read what Bruce Lee was trying to convey to the martial community. from there, you can find schools that teach JKD, try them out and see if the philosophy and training outlook is in keeping with what was intended.
For the record, the current popularity in MMA (UFC, Pride etc), is in many respects a perfect example of JKD in action.
You have wrestlers, Ju-jutsu, boxers, muay thai fighters, judoka, sombo, karateka etc all having to learn one anothers skillsets, and adapt the knowledge into one cohesive fighting style that allows them to both attack and defend in any situation, on the ground or on their feet.
if you want to learn fighting free from the constraints of formalised insular systems, and experience real resistance and hard contact that can lead to a certain level of familiarisation with violence, then look into your local MMA schools. If Bruce was still alive, chances are he would have something to do with MMA.

The original JKD did include kicks from Karate already. Maybe you should do a bit more research on the MA before you join up. I'm pretty sure that most JKD schools are a safe bet and will help you learn MA which is right for you. Don't try to find the "perfect JKD school" there's no such thing. Each school's going to be different and even the "best" school might not be the one for you. Just go and try out an introductory lesson and see if you like it, if you don't then find another school.

That's just how my father was, very detailed. Most people would have just said, "hit him several times.."
