Any news from above matt?

There is something...(free) a sort of IRC thing, it can be embedded into the webpage? Perhaps better than the frappr thing?

I was thinking of setting up an IRC channel, and have people view it in java. The good thing about IRC is you can give the mods their power. I can make an IRC channel, but:

1)Its ultimately up to MattJ and the owner, so I don't wanna start making things without them approving.

2)I'm not that good with IRC, I can make a channel, but setting up scripts for auto-kicks and censoring words would take me a bit.. same thing with making a java applet thingy so that people could enter without having to download an IRC client.

Well, so far Ive told that the current version of the forum cannot support an IM system. So thats a no, at least for now.

Can't it be seperate/stand alone?
Embedded into the main webpage and run off a java applet?

www.fishcrazy.co.uk .. its a wwebsite about keeping fishes that i go on but it has a chat thing like we are talking about.

Another idea(although not free) could be to have a voice server set up, you can send text messages in them and talk via voice?

I must admit, I have limited knowledge of the sites actual capabilities, but i could suggest the idea anyways and see what happens.

It is not currently under consideration. I have been told that the current version "will not support IM."

Ah no! Somehow this forum has avoided being caught in my work's firewall. However, as soon as IM service is added, I will not be able to access this forum anymore.
