We often have people asking where the law draws the line on self-defense.

Well, it would seem that shooting someone in the back of the head, setting them on fire, cutting their head off, and throwing the skull in a creek is wide and to the right.

Police searched for the severed head in 2003, but found nothing. However, almost a year later, a surveyor found the skull in a creek off Scott Mill Road and investigators identified it.

Stom pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder, false imprisonment and battery.

In opening statements, his lawyer said Stom shot Chamberlain after Chamberlain threatened him.

However, the prosecution said Chamberlain was shot in the back of the head, and that the slaying was not done in self-defense."

That is the most ridiculous defense (self defense) I have seen in some time. I pray that the judge or jury can see through that.

Is Stom Rich if so he might can beat that rap. My father was a cop and go my brother out of a prison term while his accomplish went to prison. Ronnie had to get out town the Army or a out of state college.

My Dad stated that Justice is for Just Us, with Money (Not that he was rich). It who you know and for how much sometimes. That was a horrendous crime someone that crule shouldn't be out on the street. Its wriiten if he beats it he'll do it again easier and meaner. In some cases others run scared of retailation and become paranoid Psychos still dangerous, if pushed.

Well he won't necessarily do it again. OJ had his crime, and as far as we know, he's been clean ever since. Apparantly successfully returning to society can sometimes be done.

lol, your using oj as an example? oj is scum, and he always was, and always will be. If you can kill someone once, you will do it again. Most people dont have it in them to do such a thing, and the ones who are in that mindset are just dangerous people in general. he didnt "return" to society either he got off the hook, and id say hes just as likely to do it agian as before. And why would we want a guy who beheads his former mates to return to society anyway? we need the death penalty back in my opinion, and not the sissy needle one either

It would be quite amazing if the judge and jury couldn't see through that. Killng someone because they threatened you is not self defence. That's like arguing that you have the right to kill someone if they are stronger than you because they could possibly do harm to you. No? Or killing a baby so it doesn't have a chance to kill you. It's entirely ludicrous. Hopefully he wont get away with something so heinous.

the point of justice is to teach, not to scare. If you re-introduce the death penalty, why not use the needle? The mean of how you do it will not matter since the person you are trying to 'correct' you are 'executing'. Tyrannts run countries on the basis of fear, re-introducing the death penalty may help reduce murder-based crimes in a country but fear can only get you so far.
