great clips! always good to see capoeira around. I actually asked about giving a home to capoeira in the forum a few months back but there wasnt enough interest to create one.

I think it's both interesting and likely very rare.

One of my students living across the country, once trained in it for a while. She found it very energy intensive/draining. It strikes me as an art to get it you have to really start very young.

But they sure move in interesting dimensions.

Capoeira has found a home in Manila!

I just started training about a month ago and I'm 23, our instructor has been training for 13 years, i think he started around age 18 so its not necessarily something you need to start as a kid although obviously starting young will give you an edge.

Its really a physically demanding sport, with constant motion and many of the moves require you having to support your full body weight on your arms. Its a great combination of cardio, strength and flexibility training.

The only problem I have is that my feet aren't very well conditioned so after every session I have great big blisters. The last one was so bad I had to go to the doctor to get it sliced open and drained... I'll be missing the next training session

Anyways, for all you Manila based members check out Escola Brasiliera Capoeira Philippines for more info. Classes are held in the following locations:

Manila Polo Club, McKinley Rd.
Ateneo De Manila University
De La Salle University
Alabang Country Club

From a fighting prescpective standing no problem, in the air no problem form the ground BIG PROBLEM so unpredictable because they are so flexible and mobile as strikers. This is not from a grapping view don't know how they'd handled that though most that I know cross train in Grappling somewhat. I'm 40+ now, I've never lasted too long in a Capoeria class you really have to be very flexible its almost like a Yoga class at the basic level, weird positions .

Unorthadox, Unpredictable and full power. Nice clip Victor.

you mean martial art? A martial art is only a sport if you make it into one, otherwise its a fighting art.
