/Shivers Wasn't worth my money... On par with Street-Fighters, or Power Rangers: The movie. Bah, methinks Mortal Kombat was better by far. Bad martial arts scenes. Wrestling was badly represented, some characters (JANN LEE!!!) was totally ignored (you saw him get thrown and ko'ed). Martial art wasn't represented. The character's story is screwed up (Ayane and Kazumi are half-sisters, Ayane and Hayate is also half-siblings) Zack does a very poor job of representing MT. Overall; 3/10 for good location shots. -Taison out

I just Googled images of Holly Valance and Natassia Malthe ... hubba hubba ... but Jessica Alba is still one of the tops in my books. However Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls has been stealing my heart as of lately. And of course I can never forget Alyssa Milano. Something about dark haired girls, with dark eyes and darker skin ...

Holly Valance??? Are you mad? Jessica Alba is ok, bit too skinny though IMO (am sure she cares what I think!). Ayub, can relate to the whole Angelina Jolie thing. Some people rave about Jennifer Aniston and Kylie Minnouge (all due respect to Ms. Minnougue and hope she gets well all the same) but I just don't get it. This should settle it once and for all guys: http://www.heavysports.com/images/jill_stone2.jpg Trumps you all!

Im wtih Cord. I want a girl thats BAD. As for the Movie, Im a huge fan of the game and didnt even know a movie was out or coming. I dont watch video game based movies anyways. They're always horrible. About like comic flix theres been a few decent but they are always overrated and always stray from the familiar material that the real fan base goes by.

As for representing styles accurately, very few characters in the game did, IMO. Jann was good. Brad was a good rep for a style that barely exists. Zack was always a horrible rep, I think. Also the ninjas were too jerky. They were fast but not very fluid. I liked the wrestlers especially bayman. Tina was good to. If she did as much damage as the other wrestlers she would easily be a top contender.

well the story behind Zack was that his MT was supposed to be unorthodox because he learned it by watching kind of thing. Meaning he never truely learned it. The wrestlers were great, Bayman was really fun playing. Overall though I thought the art representation was pretty good except for the ninjas because they were the only ones that teleported and pulled off unrealistic moves while everyone else was more real.

Man, Jann was way too fast. bayman is good no doubt, but you cant grapple with a Dragon! Bruce..erm I mean jann was really fast and does good damge and has lots of impact hits. If you can work him on the outside and make the opponent come to you( like in JKD) then the opponent doesnt have a chance.

Very true, also you can use the side kick to the knee (the longest weapon), if you time it will you can actually intercept anyone coming and start a combo. Ahhh JKD...

Thats true. Thats why you make them come to you. Directional committment. You have to come to me to hit me. All I have to do is intercept. If your slow like Bayman, well, its lights out. He is probably my third favorite character. My top two would be jann, and then Hitomi, the karate chic. Her combos are limited though. Jann seems like you can alsmost combo everything. Especially if you start with that side kick to the knee.

I hear ya. Have you ever noticed, that playing against someone who has no MA training, even if they can play games, usually gets beat on fighting games? Just another reason to study.

i have to make 2 notable exceptions to your otherwise astute observation. 1. My Mum. She is a yoda of video games. Has been since the Sinclair ZX spectrum. I remember clearly having a marathon gaming session with the guys when Tekken 2 came out. I went 8 hours straight in 'winner stays on' rules. A few weeks later mum asked if she could have a go. Chose Yoshimitsu 'cuz he looks cool', had a couple of matches 1 player, then proceeded to beat me 4 times in a row Been the same on every damn console fighter she ever played. 2. My wife. most of our courtship took place over 'strip tekken tag' and absinthe She is a fighting game ninja, but to be fair, she was a good fighter in real life till her back problems.

It was my Mum's 60th birthday in September, the family clubbed together and got her an Xbox360 and a copy of Oblivion. Made her day (she cried and everything) since then my dad says its akin to being a widower (to be fair, he spends a fair bit of time playing tiger woods on their PS2) Den and i have been known to settle minor disputes over fighting games 'winner chooses take out' -that sort of thing. its a gaming family- has been since the original atari

That means that you ignored the 1st mates warning, boarded the ship, killed the pirates and stole the nirnroot from the captains table- thats naughty, I would never have done that i bacame a vampire this morning- there i was catching some sleep in an inn (paid 20 gold for the room and everything!), one dream about some git drinking from my neck later, i am a bloodsucking fiend! Fortunately, i am a goth, my character is a dark elf and his Arena grand champion name is 'Shadowstepper', so it is actually a very cool character development, but i can see how some could become quit upset about that sort of thing

I've got an imperial. At first I enjoyed being a "battlemage" using destruction magic and wreaking chaos everywhere I went. Then the phenomenal happened. . . I joined the thieves' guild. As a rule, no killing was allowed so I turned towards Illusion and harmless destruction magics like disintegrate weapon. So from being Gandalf in an armor that would make Iron Man jealous I turned into err.. Batman? Wearing the gray cowl of nocturnal and my custom enchanted leather gear; my battlemage became a superhero. Imagine Robin Hood wearing the Batman outfit with a golden Katana. I found it very challenging and fun. Being able to escape and dodge the guards without killing anything was refreshing. My main spells were mostly lightning bolts, lightning "touch" spell that kills everything within 10 feets and lightning soultap. This quickly changed to invisibility, paralysis, disintegrate weapon, mind trick and telekinesis. Oblivion is one of my favorite game. -Taison out

Man, did this get derailed.
I just saw this film and as I read that people thought the film was very very poor I actually found it slightly entertaining. The fights were not too bad, just OK, with the jumpy style you can imagine but sometimes it became apparent that the actresses and actors werent martial artists for more than a few months.
I thought they should have adopted the street fighter way, of not making the characters wear their wacky costumes from the game the whole time. When they were all on the plane it looked like a strange kids film, with sex in it.
They overplayed the cute girls thing way too much, but if you think about it the game is like that too (though it doesnt need to be!). I wasnt complaining though.

I use a dark elf. I do the theives guild missions first to get my security levels up and to get some good picks. Then, I join the Mages guild. I complete all of there missions and become the guild leader. Specializing in destruction, I create phenomenal spells. Like one I call the Nuke. Fire damage, Frost Damage, Poison, and drain health, all set at maximum power and radius. for a duration of ten seconds. Takes a ton of mp, and the spell glitch is the only way to get enough intelligence to have enough mp to perform it. Its worth it though. Many enemies fall with one shot, and all fall at two even Vivec.

I thought the same thing until I picked it up and played it. Its the only game outthere that you can become anything. At the beggining of Morrowind, they let you choose your name, a few skills and then they drop you off in some backwoods town. Whatever you do from that point on is strictly up to you.
And Ryu or Ken isnt a choice at all, especially if playing SF3, Its Ryu Everytime, unless akuma is available, then its still Ryu everynow and then.

In SF3 it would probably be Ryu, but in the older games and Capcom vs SNK I also like Ken's speed and the better dragon punch. It really is a hard choice! They are good in different ways, well done to the producers to make a differentiation but without a difference in overall greatness.

Yes, it did. Back to Ayub. I like playing Ken more. He's more offensive of the two, usually always on the rush and countering with the dragon punch. Ryu's more defensive with his ranged attack. -Taison out

Never been my cup of tea either Crab, I like a fighting game, not a memory test and half hour d-pad jiggle just to do one lousy fireball. Mortal Kombat 1-3 were the only 2d arcade fighters that appealed to me, and that was because it was only the stupid fatalities that required joystick gymnastics, and the actual fighting was more fun and intuitive.

Its not that much to remember, just about five moves per person and not to hard to pull off after you get used to it. There are many more moves and combos to remember in Tekken and VF Id say. Both types good fun...
Pulling off fatalities was pretty tough in MK! Much more difficult that street fighter.

Wait wait wait. I gotta get in on this streetfighter thing.
First, Kens over-reliance on the dragon punch is his weakness. Notice it goes further horizontally then Ryu's but not near as high vertically.
Ken is a pick character. he pokes at his opponents and relies on combo damage. Note how his spin kick doesnt do knockdown damage which usually results in ken getting slammed.
Ryu has the faster taller uppercut, a better fireball and a spinkick that clears the opponent and allows you to regroup. Add in the excellent sidekick move from SF3 and the unblockable fireball special and you have the best character short of Akuma or Shin Akuma.

I had no net for a week but I was thinking about this! Firstly your talking more about 3, I was thinking more about the older ones.
If it goes less high its a good thing because it leaves less time for the counter if its a miss or just a scrape.
The hurricane kick argument is flawed in my opinion because most of the time it can lead to a well timed dragon punch unless your playing a seasoned expert.
I agree Ryu has the better fireball of course, and the side kick is awesome. I think Ken is probably slightly better generally (very very slightly and it depends on 'what your feelin'' at the time), but Ryu has the better specials.
I didnt put too much time into Shin Akuma but he takes loads of damage, his combos are great though.
