Out of interest Chen,

What TMA did you train and for how long and under who? (rank means very little really, time training is better!).

What kata did you work?

Hi Jim

Not wishing to speak for anybody but the problem sometimes with those type of questions is(apart form the kata question) that if a person trains with and is graded by certain associations and look elsewhere for answers or looks for another association or openly criticises things like training methods etc they can end up being asked to leave or will fail any further gradings. Plus the environment for training can become hostile in a new found club.

I trained and was graded years ago in a Shotokan club which in the end split away from trad karate and they took up with an association which was a mixed bag of so called modern martial artists. Kata was a means of getting a grade
with some rubbish inpractical applications.

But my grade is still registered with them.

Thanks Andy
