The energy that goes into this plus to have a rhythm that actually sounds like music ...

Came across this a few days ago and thought you might like it. It is a Snare Drum Solo and this guy is pretty good.

Dennis Chambers - from my hometown of Baltimore. I met him once at the school where I was taking jazz lessons. It looks like the video is speeding up in certain parts, but no. He really is that fast. He was called "the next Buddy Rich":

Gene Krupa - the man who put drummers on the map. Before Buddy Rich and everyone else. Check the style! Made it hip to be a drummer:

Havent got any links, but IMO the greatest drummer i have seen is Dave Lombardo of Slayer. I remember seeing them for the first time, and the support act had worked up the pit into a real good mosh so heat shimmer was coming off the front of the crowd. Lombardo kicked in with his bass pedals and the shimmers flinched and moved as the sound waves hit them . His drum patterns are complex and unique whilst never losing the driving force and aggression needed in that genre of music. He split from the band back in the early 90's and became a sought after percussionist in other genres as diverse as modern jazz.

another really neat thing I have seen both Killing Joke and Ministry do is have 2 drummers on identicle kits drumming the whole gig in perfect timing together- even sharing drum solos, one stopping as the other takes over mid solo, and never missing a beat. Awesome.

Ahhh....metal drummers. Good one, Cord. I'll be right back.

Carter Beauford isn't metal, but he is awesome. One of my faves, since he plays "open handed" like myself:

I remember this episode ... for real ... but remember it in English.

Cord, I also remember Dave Lombardo of Slayer and even have an album of theirs.

I always remember Bune E. Carlos of Cheap Trick when I was younger where his seat busted and he finished the show standing up.

Believe it or not, I actual even went to a Platinum Blonde concert when I was 14 or 15 that I really enjoyed and the drummer was pretty good. Can't remember the song but he cranked it out and had the sticks spinning in his hands and in the air plus had water or something on the drums that sparkled in the light ... frickin' cool at that age.

I also enjoyed Alex Van Halen and seen him twice, once with David Lee Roth in 1984 and once with Sammy Hagar in 1995. However the hilight was always Eddie Van Halen and his guitar solos ... but that is another thread for another time.
