That is impreessive but its late training. I think Chi-Sao was taken out of Karate because (and I don't want to be a spoil sport) like in JKD, Wing Chuns sticking hand concentrated more on trapping instead of hitting. Something the JKDers decided to change.

Similar drills but not like are found in Nahate, Kali/Silat, Tai-chi Kuntaou and other training. Each done a little different some use soft flowing strike deflections others hard flowing movements with no release.

Advance practictioners of WC, JKD, Goju say that they can't perform these traps in actual sparring r fighting unless on a untrained person. So its fading in training, not with WC guys.

Whereas Silat, Tai-chi and Kuntoau used these drills as the core of their in fighting. Its hard for me to see Bubot drills being anymore effective as Chi-Sao. I can use both if I KISS.

Maybe this is the same conclusion the fore fathers of TE, came to instead of blocking/trapping they rather HIT!

This is the conclusion of the modern eceltic and JKD (which are one an the same to me) but JKDers don't like being classified.

But if you thinking of clinching as trapping we are back to square 1. Can you use Chi-Sao in a clinch? I'd rather concentrate on hitting.

You're the Boss! Thanks.

Interesting video, although the first 15 seconds intrigued me the most...as they were the most similar to what I'm learning right now.

I've just filmed 16 'episodes'for the world of martial arts tv (www.woma.tv) and 5 of those were on the pushing hands that we do in karate. I think they should be up on site by the new year when it goes fully functional.

Nice seminair simple and fluid applications. but can it be used when you actually spar or fight. Pro or Con its good training and I like your simple introductions and applications. Looks Wing Tsungish, great.

Having crossed hands with Steve a couple of times now I can say a definately without a shadow doubt abso-bloody-lutely! Steve has only ever gone softly on me and it's the scariest thing I've ever been on the recieving end of in MA terms. If you watch the clip again where Steve is doing the wall training and look at the acceleration of Adam's (the guy in the clip) body. Now look at how little Steve is putting into it. Steve can get that sort of torque and sheer power in any direction and from every bloody position he's let me put him in. When he applies something he only gives you the first nanosecond of the lock or throw and that just leaves you totally convinced it'd sheer your bones in half. It's that simple fact the causes me to travel 2 hours each way for my private lessons with him! Can't wait for the WOMA vids.

I've seen that kind of Chi power (hate to sound or get old fashion not looking for a debate from others, just what I precieve it be) used by the some Tai-chi and other internal Masters. He projects his energy well, I noticed that.

Gavin having worked with the Bossman, I guess his name suits him.
