You sound pretty knowledgeable about horror movies. Do you know good but not well known zombie flicks?

Oh my now we are talking my kind of thread.

check out the 'Blind dead' trilogy- atmospheric creepy european movies about the re-animated knights templar. Pure class.

Then there is 'Children Shouldn't play with dead things' corny as hell, but the 'emergence from the grave' scene is definitive to the genre.

'White Zombie'- so good they named a band after it.

'Oasis of the zombies'- Its a desert. There is an oasis. Its full of undead nazi's. What more do you need?

Zombie flesh eaters- widely known these days, but the eyeball popping scene, and the shark vs zombie underwater fight are superb.

Zombie holocaust aka Dr Butcher.

Cannibal Apocalypse- starring John 'Roper' Saxon! Technicaly a cannibal movie, but pre-empted 28 days later in the 'zombie as a desease' concept. Very freakin strong- still banned in its uncut version almost everywhere. Its ace!

'The Dead Next Door'- low budget but very inventive gorefest.

Dont forget the 'Return of the Living dead' movies either. they often get overlooked in favour of the Evil dead and romero's work, but offer a lot of chuckles and yucks in their own right.
The re-animator movies are also essential. Anyone over 25 will take this as a given, but they were out of print for a few years and some youngsters have yet to discover them.
Same can be said for 'Brain dead'. long before Peter Jackson conquered middle earth, he made what many argue is the definitive splatter movie. Zombie heaven

There, that should keep you busy for a few weekends

Well, that settles it, I'll subscribe to Netflix. Thanks a lot!

The new movies are great but you cant get over the old ones. Though the 80's remake of night of the living dead ruled all!
This thread also rules.

on the subject of all things zombie, pick up a copy of a book called 'World War Z', its a mock-real account of a world wide zombie pandemic, told through interviews with survivors in the aftermath. it is written by the same guy who did 'the zombie survival guide', and is uneasily realistic and well researched, making it truly believable.

I enjoyed it. It did not match the intensity of 'Days', but then, it lacked the 'wow' factor as we knew what to expect, and the idea of the traditional zombie being fast has been copied and is no longer unique.
The intital premise of Carlisle's character running and leaving his wife to perish is a deliciously dark opening, and I think they could have explored the repurcussions a little more than 'find wife alive- infect husband- unleash chaos'.

Still better than many zombie films out there though

Anyone seen Romero's 'blair witch' style 'diary of the dead' yet?

Since the zombie "infection" is spread through virus like ways, why has noone ever come up with a virus or bioweapon that only attacks dead cells? A retrovirus that attacks the transmission virus or simply destroys already dead cells. Seems simple enough (especially in the realm of movies). To make it more adventurous, have it only be effecitve when administered orally meaning you have to get up close and personal with them or feed it to someone you would throw them as a victim like rat poison and watch them drop after eating.

Something to think about, hmmmm?
