Well, take into consideration that a "Zombie Victim" is often turned over to a zombie as well. This also occurs in the case of vampires, suggesting a similar "Genetic" makeup between Zombie and Vampire.

Well they both die and come back and their physiology cannot sustain them so they feed on the living so in those respects they are the same however vampires are more aware and conscious for some reason.

That is correct. I believe this is due to the rate in which the "original Death" occurs. Nearly all vampire victims are drained quickly, leading to a quick death, followed shortly thereafter by there "re awakening". In the case of zombies, this isnt always the case. Sometimes a victim may die and "turn" from a simple bite wound on the forearm for instance. Perhaps the mind destroys itself, so that it does not have to face the slow and gruesome death and rebirth. A coping mechanism, if you will.

While it appears the vampire has a choice of bites and techniques, in most of the the classic and historic literature vampires feed over a period of time on a victim, thus having a lasting food source. Obviously this depends on circumstance, but where a vampire has a residency and there is an established community nearby the vampire is able to take time; see Dracula and Lucy, Mrs Harker etc. Croglin Grange, even Polidori's vampire shows signs of prolonging the feeding. More recently the book The Historian also shows this.

This also allows the victim to turn vampiric at a gradual rate, and serve as a slave for the vampire. Thios actually reflects the classic haitian zombie which was/is a reanimated corpse used by a magician as a slave (in some cases the magician causes the death).

Interestingly, in the haitian example, salt was often fatal to the zombie. In some cases salt is also used as a protection against witches and possibly vampires. I seem to recall(although I might be mistaken... age and memory...) that Golems are also not supposed to taste salt.

Perhaps another link might be that of werewolves, whose infection methods are wider than vampires.

And let us not forget lawyers, yet another breed of the undead which feed upon the living. Oooooh, they scare me most of all.

What about the zombie creature that was smart but still freaky and a mutation in blade one? The guy who was into that one lady and then attacked her when he turned?
Also, vampires come across much more peaceful and seductive so maybe it's easier for a person to handle mentally when something is slowly and 'nicely' biting them rather then tryign to mutilate them like a zombie or wherewolf.
It's a matter of low impact low intensity vs high impact high intensity.
