The world has been taken over by zombies. You may have one (non-ballistic) weapon. What do you choose, and why?

Just for good measure, I'm taking the 'Shaun of the Dead' apporach to zombies and assuming you must destroy the brain to kill them.

Good luck out there.

Yes....someone please come up with a viable answer to this...because our government appears to be full of them.

Bo staff- you can strike the head or use it as a blunt projectile. I guess you could use a naginata too.

Or maybe an oar...(eku?) because you could sharpen the end.

Although a morning star mace would be fun too!

Heh. I don't need a weapon. I have nearly 14000 people willing to lay their lives down to defend me.

Right?

*clears throat*

I SAID, RIGHT?

*crickets*

Yeah, well......I guess a pick-axe would be good.

Sniper rifle with powerful scope so as to be able to sit on a high rise and take them out from about 700 or 800 yds without them finding me.

Close range kills...dwarven style hammer with one blunt side and one axe or spike side and/or sawed off shot gun.

Extremely close range kills...short tanto style blade in both hands for plunging straight down through the top of the skull.

So many zombies, so many weapons, what to do...what to do...

There is a whole book devoted to this- 'The zombie survival manual'. It is both hilarious, and unsettlingly well thought out- everything from killing them to zombie-proofing your chosen stronghold. Oh and dont forget earplugs- the 24/7 droning and groaning of the dead outside your safehouse will drive you to insanity without them apparently

My personal choice would be dependant on if we were dealing with 'Romero' zombies or the current trend towards agile undead like in 28 days later?
Interesting fact number 34521: I look after the building that the Lab from which 'Rage' was released is loosely based on- though nothing like that goes on in there.

Suuuuuuure it doesn't Cord. Sure it doesn't.

*Visualizes Government hitmen with guns to Cord's head as he types with sweat beading on his brow. In the background, his dog is tied up in a sack with a large man holding a shovel, poised, standing beside it*

Trust me, If I went in any place and saw monkeys tied down getting the Clockwork Orange treatment, I would release them myself and lose my job. As it is the centre is far from sinister, and very strictly regulated and monitored. Most importantly, it does not actually contain primates- oxford university are getting that hot potatoe, and they are welcome to it.
