As do I Joel, and keeps me more focused. Plus I don't have to wait to get on any equipment and if I grunt or make funny noises I don't feel bad. Plus I can work as fast or as slow as I need to and I don't have to drive home. However every once in a while I like to hit the gym just to give things a go, plus this is when my buddy Mac is in town and I can get some more tips, fine tune things and then I can watch him show off.

Just keep plugging away and savor all of your results. Things take time but when they happen and repeatedly ... then we have you hooked and you are ours.

Tuesday, August 22
Off day, needed rest.

Wednesday, August 23
Quote from Cord-
Quote:

Try cutting your rest time next workout. If you can run through it with much less rest and still feel like you could have done more, then the next time try it with the barbell.

Boy you weren't kidding!!

Did the HIIT tonight and cut back on the time, Way back!

150 skips on the jump rope as fast as possible
10 pushups on medicine ball (2 sets alternating and 2 sets both hands on)
10 trunk rotations with medicine ball at waist level
10 lunges each leg- medicine ball held above head
10 V-ups with medicine ball held above head
10 Groiners/Mountain Climbers(2 each side=1)

superset times were
3:39
3:43
4:09
4:30
Total time 18:17
That's 3:23 off of last time I did it!!!!!

I cut down my break between superset to 45 seconds from 1 minute, accounting for 45 seconds of that time cut. The rest was due to faster jumping rope (listening to The Offspring's IXNAY on the Hombre) and cutting down breaks between exercises:
1st set- 10 seconds
2nd set- 15 seconds
3rd & 4th- 20 seconds

Woof, that was what I needed. Drained me like the three sets did when I first started. I think that one thing that helped me push through as well was that I started hydrating well before the workout, had a banana and gronal bar abour 1.5 hours before and sipped at water until I started. Only need to take a drink before the 4th superset.

This workout gets a 5 out of 5!

(can you tell I'm excited?)

Great stuff!
Now is a great moment to reflect on this: ask yourself how you would have done attempting this workout, with the minimal rest periods as the first workout you did a few weeks back . i suspect the answer is that you couldnt have completed it.

That is tangible proof that you have got fitter, that your ability to repay oxygen debt has increased, and that you have greater stamina/endurance.

Nothing beats positive results from hard work- well done

Not a chance, I felt better after the latest HIIT than I did the first time I did it with 3 sets. Yay progress!

Thursday, August 24
Off day.

Friday, August 25

Weights today

Dynamic stretches warmup
Overhead Squat 4x5, 95lbs
Deadlift 3x5, 125lbs 1x5, 130lbs
Overhead Press 4x5, 75lbs
5 minutes med-pace jumprope cooldown
35:30 minutes total

Upped the last set of deadlifts by 5 lbs and went no problem. Will stay up there for all 4 sets next time. I'm also trying to slowly work more jumprope into the end until I get up to 10 minutes.

Thanks Dereck, and everybody who stops by and reads this. It was hard earlier in the year to keep motivated, but with this up here it's easier to track my progress and knowing you people see what I'm doing I know I have to do it or else you'll all know...

Hey, whatever motivation works, right?

Plus getting advice and motivation helps greatly.
